What is TAG?
The Dolvin TAG program serves eligible students one day per week in a resource class. We teach three thematic units per year. Units are designed to extend the Science and Social Studies Georgia Standards of Excellence.
The TAG Program goals are to develop skills in:
*creative thinking and creative problem solving
*higher order and critical thinking
*advanced research
*advanced communication
TAG is NOT advanced or accelerated math and language arts curriculum. Questions about your child's placement in his/her academic courses should be addressed first through your child's teacher and then with the Curriculum Support Teacher.

TAG Mission Statement Our mission is to lead an integrated, active learning environment in which talented and gifted students are responsible for their own learning through the use of quality tools, enabling them to become problem solvers and team oriented thinkers. How are TAG students assessed?
TAG students will receive Progress Skills Checklists from their TAG teacher(s) three times a year. They will be sent home at the completion of each unit. Students do not receive grades in TAG, but are assessed with M (Mastering: rare in elementary school), P (Progressing), or D (Developing) for their progress on the TAG Standards. They also receive letters for Non-Academic Skills. Assessments are based on: teacher observation of students’ class participation, students’ writings, teacher observation of students’ contribution to team activities, evaluated project and problem-based learning opportunities, as well as other papers/projects. Please check with your child each TAG day to hear about the exciting things we learned! Discussing the day is the fastest way for you to evaluate your child’s understanding of the concepts covered in class. |
How Students are Identified for the Program
All Dolvin students are screened twice per school year. Click on the links below for more information about: Screening Tips for discussing TAG testing with your child Helping Your Child Prepare for Testing If you receive a letter from the TAG Eligibility Team requesting permission to test your child for TAG, please check yes or no, sign, and return the consent form as soon as possible. Then be sure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast during the testing window. There is nothing specific your child needs to "study" to prepare for the tests for TAG eligibility.
